Nicolas Albornoz Basto
Nicolas Albornoz Basto is a consultant specialized in digital infrastructure, digital transformation, and the financing of development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). He currently serves as a consultant in the Connectivity, Markets, and Finance Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he supports the design, structuring, and implementation of operations aimed at expanding meaningful access to connectivity, strengthening digital capabilities, and promoting the deployment of digital infrastructure for data centers and artificial intelligence applications.
He has more than a decade of experience across the public and private sectors, contributing to the design of public policies, digital agendas, and broadband projects throughout the region. Within the multilateral banking sector, he has contributed to the structuring of national and sectoral plans, connectivity projects, and public-sector digital transformation programs, as well as advising financial institutions on investment structuring and institutional strengthening.
He holds a degree in International Business Administration and postgraduate studies in Regional Development Management and Finance, combining expertise in digital policy, financial structuring, and the management of digital infrastructure projects.
